Belle Amie - Girls Up (jme grime remix)

Not many contestants off the X-factor- who don't make it- come back with a song that only sounds great but showcases their talents and shows real potential for their future. Belle Amie did it with their debut single 'Girls Up', a song about flaunting what you got and not subcoming to social stereotypes of what makes a woman beautiful! Unfortunately one member down (I cant even remember what she looks like tbh) but fear not! Their one member up on thos JME Grime remix of their single which is just as good as the original. Check out the video for a funny pictorial and enjoy!

SBTRKT

One of my favourite tunes at the moment, SBTRT ft. Little Dragon - Wildfire, the Drake remix. The vocals of Little Dragon are hypnotising me right now as I write this post and listen simultaneously.

I heard it at YOYOs last night and felt like I was the only one who was singing and dancing along like groupie...usual shit!

I'm feeling this guy who has an interesting take on Trip pop, Electronic and Dance music, that reminds me of 90s electro beats and dance groups like Sneakerpimps. It's got bass, dubstep and break beats tones for the new age raver. The debut album SBTRKT is out now and a sexy Rinse FM mix is downloadable from their website. I've yet to purchase the album which also features from Roses Gabor and Jessie Ware, pay day couldn't come quicker.

get to know!

People could learn alot from Seals

It's a line that I've found myself repeating and more so on a regular basis

people could learn a lot from seals

I say this because I go out a lot in London as part of work, pr, events, networking, but more than anything, just to have a good time, I love to dance!
My ears are blessed with music from different genres, my feet dance to the beat of different drums, I clap, I cheer, I even shout out a "WHOOOOPP" and even attempt to whistle....note that I said 'attempt' a whistle, and even when I fail who cares I'll just brush it off and scream 'WHOOOOP' again!

But then I look around for a brief moment and realise im the only one....the crowd is still, too cool to move, too cute to clap..like statues at the Tussuad Waxwork museum minus the smile... their blank stares and motionless bodies freak me out...This post was inspired by my night out to iLuvLIVe yesterday at Cargo. Went to go support my boy, but I still cheered for anyone who did their thing...and why not! I was disgusted when I saw a girl, mocking people around her cheering and having a good time...I just thought, did someone not just pour out their talents to you on a stage, did your brain not make that connection. Are you now infact just standing there stuntin and tryna crack jokes with your friend mocking the performer cos you have NOTHING BETTER TO SAY!!?!?!!

It seems that some people in the UK don't know how to show appreciation, instead they stand in the crowd and sniger and dish out opinions not facts and try belittle those they don't understand and performances that are beyond their creative pin head imaginations. Why do people shy away from anything not hype/cool or the in thing...I swear if you didn't come out to have a good time you came out to pose.

Personally -I think- It's worse in todays youth (not all of you) and the pattern will continue as the crowds get younger....God I hope not! This generation of cool, hipster kids is fantastic but it's not original, cool or hip. What does it take to impress you guys; a dirty second hand/vinatge supreme t shirt, Jordans and a snap back from Ebay (probably fake too). Folk copy the 80s and 90s flare for fashion but you don't share their enthusiasm and appreciation for music and whats put before you. I think some of you follow hype so much that you've lost your own identity to recognise what you actually like and what you don't...Llow it!

If you go out, try really listening to whats going on around you, have a good time otherwise you're gunna spend your adult years looking back at pictures of the night you wore a cool outfit and posed...thats it! Go out, enjoy yourself, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and what they will say or think if you just got on the dancefloor and was the only one dancing. these people dont pay your bills, feed you, clothe you or house you....they are just people and probably are dying to break out too.

It's no surprise to me when I hear stories of Rick Ross ending his highly anticipated concert within 30 mins because people didn't out to have a good time, no they came to play wanksta's! And yesterdays reports of Wiz Kalifa being ambushed in the club on his first night in London: WTF!? you fake gangsta's need to stop this shit, you're ruining it for the rest of us. Eventually, when artists don't come, dont want to perform here, don't ask why...

A lot of people are surprised that I'm 28...I think this boils down to the fact that I party like a 22 years old rockstar, my enjoyment for life and happiness to embrace new things has kept me young and wrinkle less and peopel think cos im getting down and having a good time I must be young!...No!....and it's funny cos the young ones look older than me, stop frowning ya'll..

in conclusion

A seal = enthusiastic, claps , cheers,

people - dead robots....could learn a lot from seals!

Shystie - Your Welcome

Download Shystie's New Mixtape here

Katy B - Go Away

Katy B's album has been on heavy rotation in my car and if you have been a co-pilot you would know this...Actually Katy B has been on heavy rotation since I heard angelic vocals on many house tracks in the last couple years.

The album in a sentence is basically: love for raving and the joys & pains & heart felt emotions that come with men/boys/love...story of my life I swear hahahahaha

"...you open your eyes, watch me lying there
what good to know what you see, once i get to know what you feel
and what you think, if only i could step in your skin
but you see i already know, it'll end in tears when you carry out all my fears
being here's a dangerous game, ill end up insane
and only have myself to blame..." < this is scarily real!

This song has struck chord with me...I need to be braver next time

ILOVEKARIMO

ON MY RECENT TRIP TO AMSTERDAM I MET UP WITH MY FRIEND KARIMO WHO I COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED WAS THIS MADLY TALENTED AND ARTISTIC GRAPHIC DESIGNER AND BEAT PRODUCER.
I WANTED TO SHARE SOME OF HIS WORK WITH YOU, SO YOU CAN SEE THE LEVELS OF CREATIVITY AND DEPTH IN KARIMO’S DRAWINGS.

BELOW IS THE ARTWORK FROM HIS MIXTAPE: DEATH STARS 3: ATTACT OF THE BABYLON SLAYERS

DARK, INTRICATE DESIGNS, LAYERED WITH DETAIL, KARIMO’S DRAWINGS REALLY REMINDED ME OF ARTIST RICK GRIFFIN WHO WAS ONE OF THE LEADING DESIGNERS OF PSYCHEDELIC CONCERT POSTERS IN THE 1960S CALIFORNIA AND LIKE GRIFFIN; KARIMO DESIGNS CRAZY POSTERS EVENTS, VINYLS AND TEE’S.

RICK GRIFFIN:

KARIMO:

RICK GRIFFIN’S WORK WAS POPULAR WITHIN THE SURFING SUBCULTURE IN THE USA. HIS MOST RENOWN WORK INCLUDED HIS COMIC STRIP ABOUT A SURFER NAMED “MURPHY”. MOST KIDS TODAY WOULD ASSOCIATE “COWABUNGA” WITH BART SIMPSON, BUT IT WAS RICK GRIFFIN’S “MURPHY” THAT COINED THE TERM WAY BACK IN THE 1970S.

YOU MIGHT RECOGNISE MURPHYFEATURED ON OF COLLAB BETWEEN VANS X RICK GRIFFIN IN 2009

I THINK A TRAPSTAR X KARIMO COLLAB WOULD BE INTERESTING…THOUGHTS IN THE COMMENT BOX PEOPLE.

I'M GOING COACHELLA NEXT YEAR

As festivals go, I'm still very new to many of them as I only really started attended any big ones in the last 2 years. Coachella is supposedly one of the biggest out door music festivals in the world.

Coachella (ko-CHEL-a, ko-a-CHEL-a) is a city in Riverside County, California; it is the easternmost city in the region collectively known as the Coachella Valley (or the Palm Springs area). Known as the "City of Eternal Sunshine", Coachella is largely a rural, agricultural, family-oriented community in the desert and one of the state's fastest growing cities in the late 20th century.

...thanks Wikipedia

The Festival was held over the weekend and as the footage comes through my heart sinks cos I missed it....Here's Magnetic Man's performance, enough to make this elephants mouth water.

Shystie 'Pirates Mixtape'

I LOVE SHYSTIE!!!!!! (say something!?)

I am wetting myself in anticipation of this dropping. Shystie is quality over quantity when it comes to new material and a real hard grafting female in the music industry who in my opinion doesn't get enough love. I highly respect this girls game, she stays true to herself in a male dominated industry. The preview alone for the new 'Pirates Mixtape' is enough to turn anyone into a fan of this progressive female talent...check it out for yourself!

but seriously Shystie...it's April, where is Pirates Mixtape??? :(

support the movement and follow her here

The Weeknd - House Of Balloons

After being recommended this North American band, I've kinda been hooked on The Weeknd. The freely downloadable debut mix tape House of Balloons is a regular on my personal music player.
When I first heard Wicked Game, I couldn't help but wonder if the singer was channeling Charlie Sheen. But after having this on constantly in the background at work, I hear Justin Timberlake Harmonies and real essence of Drakes dark, emotional lyrics...but at 20 years old it makes you wonder what is going on in kids heads these day. The mixtape is Laced with RnB tones (win) and while some songs are easy listening and some you have to take with a shot or 2 of rum...enjoy ..XO

Tracklist:
1. High For This
2. What You Need
3. House Of Balloons – Glass Table Girls
4. The Morning
5. Wicked Games
6. The Party & The After Party
7. Coming Down
8. Loft Music
9. The Knowing

Music feeds my soul

Pink Friday is a HUGE album, girl power all the way. This song particularily stands out to be, especially the second verse, it speaks to me right now where I'm in a good place...

PINK LONDON

Head Barbz Nicki Minaj; aka Nicki Lewinsky, aka Nicki the Ninaj, aka Nicki the Harajuku Barbie, finally graced the British Isles this past week. And with her she brought her own pink storm....getting mobbed at the airport to almost getting kicked out of The Dorchester and nearly arrested outside Buckingham Palace, Nicki did like only she coudl!

Unfortunately last week was an uber-busy-power-moves week for me and I never got to see her but in honour of her visit I donned my MAC Pink4Friday lipstick everyday - oh yes I was on-line very Friday/Thursday 00.00 on the dot, in December to try score me this limited Edition lipstick!

Von Mistry Barbz (me!) was looking extra cute this week, but not as Cute as HB!

Pink Catsuit...is this Casetta Playa?

This dress is outta this world literally!

Versace Dvea Geometric satin heels are to die for!

I'm not the biggest Fashionisha (see what I did there) in there world but I know someone who is...check out the other Nisha's page for the low down on Nicki's style and ...
"shoe game so crazy the mental asylum looking for me!"
