TR Fernandez - Dam

TR Fernandez - Dam

Here's the first installment of what's to comes from London rapper TR Fernandez. The track 'Dam' named after the sin city of Amsterdam was inspired after a trip there with his Anml Testing Collective inclduing APE Apparel and PHD-LDN. The song is a reflection of good times with good friends, featuring Octopus Jones on production: the video and still photography were shot by PHD-LDN.

His debut mixtape is still under construction and is currently undergoing testing in the lab....

Belle Amie - Girls Up (jme grime remix)

Not many contestants off the X-factor- who don't make it- come back with a song that only sounds great but showcases their talents and shows real potential for their future. Belle Amie did it with their debut single 'Girls Up', a song about flaunting what you got and not subcoming to social stereotypes of what makes a woman beautiful! Unfortunately one member down (I cant even remember what she looks like tbh) but fear not! Their one member up on thos JME Grime remix of their single which is just as good as the original. Check out the video for a funny pictorial and enjoy!

SBTRKT

One of my favourite tunes at the moment, SBTRT ft. Little Dragon - Wildfire, the Drake remix. The vocals of Little Dragon are hypnotising me right now as I write this post and listen simultaneously.

I heard it at YOYOs last night and felt like I was the only one who was singing and dancing along like groupie...usual shit!

I'm feeling this guy who has an interesting take on Trip pop, Electronic and Dance music, that reminds me of 90s electro beats and dance groups like Sneakerpimps. It's got bass, dubstep and break beats tones for the new age raver. The debut album SBTRKT is out now and a sexy Rinse FM mix is downloadable from their website. I've yet to purchase the album which also features from Roses Gabor and Jessie Ware, pay day couldn't come quicker.

get to know!

The Stow - Give A Damn

First saw this awesome band at Milly's World. I got their free CD and was hooked, they go from strengths to strength in their new 'The Covers' EP. You should definitely get to know this London collective: The Stow

Funky, fresh, indie with elements of Rap and RnB; rocking guitars and banging drums, love waking up to this at the moment. The vocals are smooth, I recommend you hear these guys live!!!

check em out here > http://thestowonline.co.uk/

And the video directed by my friends The Moonrunnes, great job!

*jaw on the floor* i'm speenchless, im in tears, I'm dying _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ________I'm DEAD..this performance is so EPIC, we need a new word for EPIC!

Who run the world?.... Beyonce!!!!

The use of a blank canvas to project images and create optical illusions with dance has never been done so well by a female performer.

She always comes back with some thing else, unique and she didn't use sex to sell it, she didn't shake her ass suggestively to make a point and be heard.

she's sooo FUCKING dope (pardon my french)...I LOVE BEYONCE!!!

Snoop Dogg @ Forum, Kentish Town 17.05.11

Yesterday night, I got blessed yesterday with the opportunity to see Snoopp Dogg perform at his first concert in the UK in 5 years!!!

Courtesy of my beautiful friend @MsHayleyboo I was ushered into Kentish town by head of Snoops security Alan - who was a lovely man...I digress...
After much patience, The Dogg Father was late to stage and crowds started to boo loudly as it approached 10:15pm, Snoop had to be off the stage by 11:30pm according to some Forum rule and had I paid for my ticket I would have been pissed too...But I didn't and after a bout 5mins of booing he finally came on stage and did his thing - Fully khaki-ed out! He later stripped off his shirt to reveal a blue and white stripe football shirt, not sure who's will find out and get back to you

The concert was wicked, Snoop proved he could still deliver, He played some classic gangster rap including Gin and Juice, Who Am I (Whats my name), P.i.m.p, Drop it Like it's Hot and Nothing but a G thang ...he was supported on stage by Kurupt and 3 dancers who were SEXY!!!!!
Of course he did a quick but emotional Nate Dogg tribute which was sweet, as well as a tribute to West side 2Pac and East Coasts Biggie....

At the end of his concert he performed his current chart banger, 'Sweat' Vs David Guetta which is a great tune, but I cant explain to you the campness of his fist pounding movement he instructed the crowd to join in on when the chorus blasted, swear it was as if I was transported to Pacha for a second... is that how Americans get down to dance/trance music?! ...it was weird!

The crowd was a eclectic mix and I'm not sure the venue was full or if people had a good time....A Snoop Dogg concert was never on my list of shows to see but I'm glad I had the chance, I really enjoyed it.

People could learn alot from Seals

It's a line that I've found myself repeating and more so on a regular basis

people could learn a lot from seals

I say this because I go out a lot in London as part of work, pr, events, networking, but more than anything, just to have a good time, I love to dance!
My ears are blessed with music from different genres, my feet dance to the beat of different drums, I clap, I cheer, I even shout out a "WHOOOOPP" and even attempt to whistle....note that I said 'attempt' a whistle, and even when I fail who cares I'll just brush it off and scream 'WHOOOOP' again!

But then I look around for a brief moment and realise im the only one....the crowd is still, too cool to move, too cute to clap..like statues at the Tussuad Waxwork museum minus the smile... their blank stares and motionless bodies freak me out...This post was inspired by my night out to iLuvLIVe yesterday at Cargo. Went to go support my boy, but I still cheered for anyone who did their thing...and why not! I was disgusted when I saw a girl, mocking people around her cheering and having a good time...I just thought, did someone not just pour out their talents to you on a stage, did your brain not make that connection. Are you now infact just standing there stuntin and tryna crack jokes with your friend mocking the performer cos you have NOTHING BETTER TO SAY!!?!?!!

It seems that some people in the UK don't know how to show appreciation, instead they stand in the crowd and sniger and dish out opinions not facts and try belittle those they don't understand and performances that are beyond their creative pin head imaginations. Why do people shy away from anything not hype/cool or the in thing...I swear if you didn't come out to have a good time you came out to pose.

Personally -I think- It's worse in todays youth (not all of you) and the pattern will continue as the crowds get younger....God I hope not! This generation of cool, hipster kids is fantastic but it's not original, cool or hip. What does it take to impress you guys; a dirty second hand/vinatge supreme t shirt, Jordans and a snap back from Ebay (probably fake too). Folk copy the 80s and 90s flare for fashion but you don't share their enthusiasm and appreciation for music and whats put before you. I think some of you follow hype so much that you've lost your own identity to recognise what you actually like and what you don't...Llow it!

If you go out, try really listening to whats going on around you, have a good time otherwise you're gunna spend your adult years looking back at pictures of the night you wore a cool outfit and posed...thats it! Go out, enjoy yourself, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and what they will say or think if you just got on the dancefloor and was the only one dancing. these people dont pay your bills, feed you, clothe you or house you....they are just people and probably are dying to break out too.

It's no surprise to me when I hear stories of Rick Ross ending his highly anticipated concert within 30 mins because people didn't out to have a good time, no they came to play wanksta's! And yesterdays reports of Wiz Kalifa being ambushed in the club on his first night in London: WTF!? you fake gangsta's need to stop this shit, you're ruining it for the rest of us. Eventually, when artists don't come, dont want to perform here, don't ask why...

A lot of people are surprised that I'm 28...I think this boils down to the fact that I party like a 22 years old rockstar, my enjoyment for life and happiness to embrace new things has kept me young and wrinkle less and peopel think cos im getting down and having a good time I must be young!...No!....and it's funny cos the young ones look older than me, stop frowning ya'll..

in conclusion

A seal = enthusiastic, claps , cheers,

people - dead robots....could learn a lot from seals!

The Rules

Up late and between writing my weekly plan and watching How to lose friends and alienate people (irony is too much right now) My friend Shadez The Misfit was on the Twitter, giving us his #rulesofagentlemen
N.B. Mark my words 'Shadez' is a gentlemen and will continue to grow into a fine man one day

His rules do sound like he's tryna convince the ladies a bit but he states some real gems that should just come as standard with men; proving that gentlemen do exist!
here's some of my fav tweets from his gentlemens guide:

Shadez The Misfit
You came from a woman .... Basic respect

Shadez The Misfit
Good hygiene is a MUST!!
Shadez The Misfit
Kiss her spontaneously in the middle of her sentence

Shadez The Misfit
Ok so this is the last for the night : have a day for just you and her .... She will love the one on one time
Anyway...it inspired byt the love it made me to want tweet the things that I was thinking! The sweet nothings that count for so much in a romantic situations that people forget: #sweetnothingsthatcountforalot
I started writing these as a way of letting someone know on the sly that I was grateful for them and also just to remind people out there, that it's the little things that count:

Missmistry
Dancing around with your tiny feet on his big size 11 feet .....

Missmistry
Smiling at you across a crowded room n makin you feel like the most special person there without sayin a word

Missmistry
Spooning....do it to him too
All these rules got me thinking and wondering about different rules, to counter the Gentlemen ones. What Shadez was expressing, just basic common courtesy's and they shouldn't be ignored! So I went onto a popular search engine and I came across some fun sites about rules for women including these:We women stand for a lot but rate ourselves so little! Also I thought some of these womens rules were a good point of reference and things your mother/sister/aunty/grandmother teach you.

Or my personal fav -

Rulesofasouthernlady.tumblr.com

Rule No. 148

When in public, never forget that you have no idea who is around you. If you are “talking trash” about someone, you never know which one of their friends might be right behind you. Whenever in public, keep it nice and sweet. It will only pay off in the long run.

Rule No. 141

If you have the opportunity to go to The Masters the answer is always YES! Rearrange whatever you have to rearrange. No one will be mad at you andeveryone will understand.

Rule No. 133

It’s never a bad idea to know how you plan to pose in pictures for the night based on the outfit and shoes you are wearing. Take a couple minutes to practice in the mirror and decide which poses make you look absolutely fabulous. I mean really, who does not like to be prepared?

I could post these all day...the sites go on for miles...who makes up these rules?? And who's to say there isn’t a rule that counters another rule...is there a rule loop hole??

I reiterate my point that a majority of these rules are common and nothing new. They have been passed down through history but have been watered down and forgotten along the way; they should definitely be followed as a way of making the world a better place.

You shouldn't be surprised when a man holds out your chair or a women is strong/bold with her feelings...the other things with rules is that you can make up your own set to live by...rules eh!

My last rule for tonight....Rules are made to be broken

Shystie - Your Welcome

Download Shystie's New Mixtape here

Katy B - Go Away

Katy B's album has been on heavy rotation in my car and if you have been a co-pilot you would know this...Actually Katy B has been on heavy rotation since I heard angelic vocals on many house tracks in the last couple years.

The album in a sentence is basically: love for raving and the joys & pains & heart felt emotions that come with men/boys/love...story of my life I swear hahahahaha

"...you open your eyes, watch me lying there
what good to know what you see, once i get to know what you feel
and what you think, if only i could step in your skin
but you see i already know, it'll end in tears when you carry out all my fears
being here's a dangerous game, ill end up insane
and only have myself to blame..." < this is scarily real!

This song has struck chord with me...I need to be braver next time
