It's ironic when you think about the tone of my last post the next day whadoyaknow I got a new job!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!

I'm back in retail, on the front line, doing what I do best, serving the public. I'm the new sales assistant at Vans in Westfield's! It's a temporary solution but with some permanent benefits of pay, a new team to work with and a new adventure.....but of course!

To all those who are still looking...keep your chin up and don't give in, there's light at the end of the tunnel!

The odds are against me...thank Gawd for Horoscopes!

If you're like me, one for the 2.3million people in the UK who is unemployed and actively looking for work, I want to take this time to say congratulations for not jumping off a bridge, building , NCP, roof top......something of height! I know it's hard and with odds like 2.3 million against you in a recession, I'm at a loss for advice to give but keep trying and dont give up!
The odds of a job are slim, online job sites and applications cut that slim in half! Where as before 10 people were applying for a job now 50 people are competing online! I can do between 50-80 jobs one-click apps a day through online sites and I might get 3 (if I'm lucky) call-backs in a week and 2 of them will be just to find out a bit more about me - because my CV and cover letter didn't spell it out clearly enough! The Job Centre has job search machines which has helped me find my perfect job in Carlisle...where?? I live in London!!! - but their just puttin you in touch with another recruitmentagent not the actual job. Recruitment agents waste your time, I have 7 - and what have you done for me lately!? And then there's handing out your CV in retail outlets... retail is not in any way demeaning but this was something I thought was behind me after slaving it out in sweat box shops on minimum wage for the best part of my teens! You have to hand out 20 to get at least 2 call backs and that's if your CV makes it past the counter girls....
**Oh Gawd, I just read this back - how depressing - PLEASE DONT KILL YOURSELF!!!!

Today after pacing the whole of Westfields I handed out 20 of my 30 CVs to retail outlets of whom 15 were actually hiring and I got 1 response. An interview and a trial shift at Vans tomorrow....goodluck to me and to those of you with interviews tomorrow including my friend Byron!

Body wrecked and hungry I read this in the paper on the way home and made me smile...I'm a Taurus...but of course!

Love yourself!

I have battled with my weight since I was young. I have tried it all when it comes to fad diets and new workouts....and I can tell you now the only thing that works in this a proper diet and regular exercise - END OF!!!!

I did have a shit self body image and airbrushed images of perfection that are plastered everywhere don't help my perception - but I'm glad to say now that on most days I can look in the mirror and actually see myself for what I am and not what the demons in my head see's! I love myself as I am curves, flaws, cellulite, hair patches and all!

I saw this and it made me laugh -

I hope none of you are resorting to this....instead if you want to lose some pounds try these steps

1. Look in the mirror and note all the things you love about yourself!
N.B. and you're not gunna love yourself standing pigeon toed, shoulders slumped, chin pressed to chest and frowning- so stand tall and smile!

2. Cut out the shit from your diet - drinks more water and eat more fresh fruit, plus it's cheaper!

3. Try going for a brisk walk couple times a week, later, turn this in to a run a couple times a week!

and lastly ....this one's is really important
4. If there are people in your life who make you feel bad about yourself - get rid of them! i.e. drop 'em, cut them off, kick 'em to the curb!

Bet you feel 10lbs lighter already!! ; )

Behind closed doors

When I download music I tend to just search artists I like and then click a whole bunch of random songs. then I make amonthly CD for my car...I like to mix it up with a host of genres and artists. This month I made a CD and hadn't quite reached the 70minute mark so I added this track that I had downloaded on a random and had failed to listen to it yet...

Nway I was driving along listening to my new mix CD, and I so chuffed with myself that I was blasting them at high volumes, cos I like to my music loud and then this song came on...

....The looks I got from other drivers - needless to say I shall only be listening to this behind closed doors and car windows!

I love this song, its dirrty trashy, sexy, sweat from your upper lip hot! -its just a bit naughty and the beat is so funky!

throwback to my school days

I got dumped today...

I'm madly upset and disappointed to have ended a friendship with someone who I shared some of the best times with! But like any relationship over time we grew apart and things turned sour- we ended up disliking more than one thing in each other and tensions grew beyond repair.

She told me about myself; somethings were true and I needed to hear them and some things were just a bit rotten *sniff-snif, wipes tear away - but I'm grateful and I look forward to making some changes to better myself.

She is moving next week for a new adventure/chapter in her life and more power to her for taking this step and leaving this one horse town for bigger and better things!

You're so edgy and cool....blah, blah, blah!

I've noticed a current trend with hair at the mo...something I wouldn't be brave enough to attempt that looks uber cool and funky, but the bandwagon is tipping over!

There are people who have style and independence to go out and be different and shave their hair and more power to them....but these completely Styled Celebrities were blatantly put in a chair, drugged and then told to "like it and shut the fuck up!" hehehe that's how I imagine it happening!

Not so long ago it was all about long hair extensions and full body hair...I have to say it's a bit of slap in the face for all those impoverished women who were forced to shave off their hair for a little food and money, just to meet the demand of the hair extension craze that hit western consumerism in the last couple years. Even girls as young as 13, in Russia, were cutting off their waist long hair for mere £100 just to pay their rent. Although their quality hair was then sold on for up to £2000 quality hair extensions to the rich and famous... 20 times as much rent money that she will never see... and now these extension lovers are shaving it all off!

Lets be clear I don't like the taste of Hatorade and these hotties pictured do look Amazing and I can only congratulate their fierceness...

Maybe I'm just not brave enough to ruin my hair and can you imagine the regrowth - you'd be up in the barber shop with the man dem getting a weekly shape up just to maintain the look......ooh sexy!
Shot me for saying this but I like my hair.....in fact I got that hair that makes you bitches scream.....sorry but it's true!

However.....if I dared to shave my hair, it wouldn't be in vain. I came across sites where you can donate your hair. It got me thinking the next time I get a hair cut I would want my locks to go onto bigger and better things like making a decent wig or hair piece for people in need...check out these sites.
