I WANTED TO SHARE SOME OF HIS WORK WITH YOU, SO YOU CAN SEE THE LEVELS OF CREATIVITY AND DEPTH IN KARIMO’S DRAWINGS.

DARK, INTRICATE DESIGNS, LAYERED WITH DETAIL, KARIMO’S DRAWINGS REALLY REMINDED ME OF ARTIST RICK GRIFFIN WHO WAS ONE OF THE LEADING DESIGNERS OF PSYCHEDELIC CONCERT POSTERS IN THE 1960S CALIFORNIA AND LIKE GRIFFIN; KARIMO DESIGNS CRAZY POSTERS EVENTS, VINYLS AND TEE’S.

RICK GRIFFIN’S WORK WAS POPULAR WITHIN THE SURFING SUBCULTURE IN THE USA. HIS MOST RENOWN WORK INCLUDED HIS COMIC STRIP ABOUT A SURFER NAMED “MURPHY”. MOST KIDS TODAY WOULD ASSOCIATE “COWABUNGA” WITH BART SIMPSON, BUT IT WAS RICK GRIFFIN’S “MURPHY” THAT COINED THE TERM WAY BACK IN THE 1970S.

YOU MIGHT RECOGNISE MURPHYFEATURED ON OF COLLAB BETWEEN VANS X RICK GRIFFIN IN 2009
